Today instead of doing our usual and going into college; we were based at the North Notts College campus in Worksop. Today was the day that we had been preparing for being our final Unit 25 practical assessment! At Worksop, they had a simulation type room which had space of us artists to be able to work on them and create a simulation type Photoshoot with hospital beds and other equipment. We were assigned 2 models each and had to apply prosthetics to them according to our design plans. Due to COVID-19 we were restricted from working on the face which was disappointing however, we still did an amazing job.

Looking back at my week 4 and week 9 reflections, I showed off my skills of painting and applying the ankle piece which I decided to take to the event and apply on my model. As well as this I also took multiple bullet and entry wounds to apply on the models. I felt that these went okay however, after reviewing I do feel that there could have been some adaptations.

I felt that due to the circumstances of not having a proper work surface to lay out my products, I was not productive as I could have been. Due to this, and with the models getting changed, I was a little behind time schedule compared to the rest of the group. This became more of a problem later on when the excitable students were floating about my workstation. As well as this, I found that my exit wound piece wasn’t as flat as I would have liked, and the edges didn't blend as flat as I would've hoped.

Also due to the time setbacks, I unfortunately didn’t get to splatter blood everywhere on my pieces. I guess something to look at is that I shouldn’t compare to what others did - yes they did do an amazing job however I had a different design plan and had more bullet wounds than I had open cuts.

From today I do feel that my ankle piece was my best piece from the bunch, being the largest and the most gruesome. If I were to run the simulation again I think that I would possibly ensure that my large Exit wound piece was thin enough for me to properly blend the edge. I would also have asked the model to be speedy when getting changed as well as a malleable workstation which I could use such as a trolley to place my items on.
