This is now the 3rd online learning session we've had and I feel that I am really losing motivation not being in college compared to when we are onsite and in that workspace and certain mindframe to be productive. I do feel that when being at home I am more likely to do less work, and without having the proper resources it is very hard to find the want and will to do work unfortunately.
However onto todays session, we stared out by handing out individual assessment tracking documents for each essay and assignment we have been given. I feel that personally these were not of too much use to me for my term 1 assignments as I had handed them all in on time however might help other students track how much progress they have had on these. They were broken down into learning objectives so it works well to see what learning objective you have completed as well as what date it was in for, this is a good example for out Unit 21 and Unit 31 where we have been set the first learning objective in for earlier than the rest of the document. Unfortunately the goal of completing both of these assignments was not completed on my personal behalf; I did email my practical tutor and also discussed this with my peers but I felt that I wasn't hitting the mark scheme at all and that I was waffling on. I feel that this is one of my biggest flaws in personal speaking so I definitely want to avoid this in my writing. Furthermore from the comments from my practical tutor I am on a almost correct path and it is more of a report writing style rather than looking at everything in that century. After hearing this I felt a lot more reassured that I did not have to rewrite all of my work. As well as this I felt more certain as to what I was writing, and that I could look at other researchers findings, quote them and then discuss the points that they brought up. Now I hope to complete that first learning objective by the next session. Onto the afternoon session, as my peers and I had styled our wigs we decided to do a period look towards our Unit 31 assignment where we have to cover looks from: The Roman Empire, The Medieval Period,
17th Century,
18th Century,
19th Century,
20th Century,
21st Century.
As we are in the middle of a pandemic and are now working from home we have been allowed to use a couple looks that we had previously done hence I have around 4 (as of today) done and ready to use for this assignment. And so onto today I decided to use my medieval wig that I styled last week and do a look towards this assignment using that. From researching pictures and artwork from that period I could plainly see that they were very fair people, with little makeup and almost non existent brows.
From this point I saw that I would need to do some brow cover and then create a flawless base with maybe a little bit of blush to add colour to the face. I stared out by gluing my brows down, before then covering them with a full coverage foundation. Then colour correcting the redness and dark circled under my eyes I then went in and created a flawless base without too many stark highlights like I would usually do in a makeup application. From here I then powdered as the women in that time were presented as very fair and matte faced, before then going in and mapping out the brows with a angled brush and a light brown brow powder. This was my first time creating a brow this way as usually when I do a drag look I will usually leave the look brow less as I feel it avoids the mess that is trying to draw brows on a glued down, textured surface. I felt that although it was my first time doing that I felt it went fairly well and tuned out looking exactly how I wanted them to. After this I then decided to add a slight bit of shade to the face so I used a little bronzer then grabbed a pink toned cream blush to then place that onto the cheeks. From here then applying the wig, gluing the ear tabs down and taking multiple photos adding a little more make-up throughout the photoshoot to add some variation to my photos. I feel that the look was exactly what I wanted and although I used modern methods and products it worked, and created a period authentic look.
For this week I will try and finish my first LO of my Unit 31 assignment before then possibly staring my portfolio for unit 31 and looking at the further learning objectives of unit 21 and unit 31.
