This weeks session was very basic in structure. We met with Karen and had a little catch up and we discussed that instead of sitting and watching an interview or whatever; we could just sit in the call with camera and mic off if we wanted and then just get on with our essays and portfolio work as we plan to continue practical assessments when we are back in college from the 8th march.
While this was going on we then had feedback rolling into our emails as Karen and Anne IV’d each other’s assignments. None of my grades changed, which I was happy for the ones that I gained a distinction on, however was hoping for a boost on my stagecraft essay. Granted I can understand why it was not boosted and this was because I simply did not write enough to gain the distinction marks in LO1 and LO4.
Back onto my portfolio work I carried on working on my projects and wrote out some post it notes as well as some checklists in my notebook so that I could track all my slides throughout the project. Over the weekend I had planned out all of my slides and it came to the mass amount of around 42 slides and so I thought if I broke it down into sections I could handle it better. The practical looks I have completed so far are as follows:
The medieval period (see blog post Week 14)
18th century (looking at possibly redoing)
19th century (see blog post Week 5)
20th century (see blog post Reading Week)
As mentioned above, I am thinking of possibly redoing my 18th century look as I feel that it was a modern interpretation of a Marie Antoinette inspired look with a slit throat prosthetic. I think that because it is not period accurate similar to some of the other looks I’ve done in this unit, I feel that it will stick out like a sore thumb and look like I’m limiting myself to just being a modern glam artist. With this I would possibly do a similar wig as to what I did with the blue look, but would possibly use a cage to really stretch my skills and then also wait to go into college to then have access to a model and a costume.
With the rest of the project I have been working away at the slides, importing my finished images and working away at the research and trying to just generally work at the project bit by bit. As a fun task we have also been set the task of doing a Valentine’s Day look for an internal competition with all levels 1-4 competing. This is definitely something I am interested in and I think it will be a fun little side project to do. I am thinking of doing something more drag based and maybe something vintage, however I am unsure yet on what I want to do.
